We totally called it

So a few days before last nights game we submitted some bullet points over to Covers.com for who will cover their point spread and why… and we nailed all three keys to the game.

Point 1) Giants out-rush the Vikings. Kudos to the Giants defense for shutting down Adrian Peterson to the tune of 13 carries, 28 yards, 2.2 ypc, a long run of 8 yards… his lowest output in any game in over 2 years. THAT is damn impressive. On the flip side, the Giants did get some better yardage and controlled the game with their ground and pound attitude collectively gaining 64 yards on the ground on 32 carries which includes Eli’s 3 for 5. Bing.

Point 2) Jon Beason helps the Giants front 7 control the game. How good has Beason been so far? Not stellar, but certainly the best LB performance we’ve seen since Antonio Pierce. Beason was good enough to win at the least, an absolute force in tackling and run stopping at the most. Bing!

Point 3) Josh Freeman will sputter in his new offense. And it totally did. We knew the Giants defense would play spirited ball – they had nothing to lose and their backs were against the wall. But Freeman was hurried 21 times, hit 12 times, and sacked once on 72 snaps. To draw comparisons, the silly Chiefs numbers against the Raiders were 23, 4, and 10 respectively. The Giants defense didn’t get the sack numbers – but they were in Freeman’s face all night, and he ultimately was getting off the ground every other snap. BING!!
