Can The Giants Make Their Playoff Run?

Heading into the bye week — where another Giants loss is an impossibility thank goodness — fans are asking whether we’ll see another 2007 and 2011. While the players, numbers, facts, figures, and particulars aren’t quite right it doesn’t necessarily mean the Giants have no shot to go on a run and make the playoffs.

If it so happens that the rest of the NFC East lays and egg and the Giants finish strong, 9-7 or better, there is a legitimate chance that the Giants could make the playoffs. The odds of this happening are not good, but it could happen.

The Redskins, Cowboys, and Eagles all would have to finish 8-8 or worse… which is not much of a stretch for the Skins or the Birds. It really comes down to the Cowboys taking that Lions loss this past Sunday very very hard, and spiraling out of control where they don’t win another game. While we’re dreaming – how about the Dallas locker room implodes along the way, Jason Garrett’s job comes into question, Dez Bryant gets traded out of the conference, Jason Witten retires, and Tony Romo get’s back together with Jessica Simpson.

In all seriousness, the Cowboys could easily drop 4 more games while the Giants go on a major win streak. The Redskins won 6 in a row last year with only a few wins on the board, the Giants did it in 2007, and we know the Giants flipped that switch in 2011 when it was single game elimination time… they can do it again.

The defense is playing lights out, the offense looks like it’s starting to come together, the Nicks trade talk is all buy dying out, and the running game is going to get a boost from Andre Brown in 2 weeks against Oakland. Crazier things have happened, make no mistake — the Giants have a shot to win the division and get into the tournament.
