Will it matter if the Giants stop Beast Mode?

The Giants #1 priority last offseason was to be able to stop the run this year. And they’ve done a good job of executing that plan throughout he 2013 season. But Sunday they have one of their biggest challenges to date – Marshawn Lynch, who I would have loved to see in Big Blue when he became a free agent In Buffalo years ago. Our good friend and former writer Jesse Bartolis wrote a piece on that way back in he day. Anywhoo… Will the Giants be able to stop the beast this Sunday? And if they do, do they have a better chance to win the game?

Probably not.

The Seahawks have another talented runner on the team that we should all fear more – QB Russell Wilson. He’s the complete package. Even if the Giants stop the run as they have done time and time again this year against top RBs like McCoy and Peterson — they still have to take care of the QB. Which, they haven’t done at all this year. At all. What’s more, athletic QBs tend to really give this defense a problem.

So unless the Giants pull a 180 and COMPLETELY change how they play defense this game, in their Super Bowl game against the best and most complete team in the league, they won’t stop the Seahawks. If beast mode doesn’t get em, Wilson certainly will.
