How Kevin Gilbride just might become the next Giant Head Coach. Part 1.

My opinion: There will be blood…this coming off-season at the Quest Diagnostic Center in the Meadowlands. How could there not be? But there is a way the Giants could come out of this horrendous season smelling like country gentlemen wearing lilac-water!

When your franchise quarterback says he would like to play for Kevin Gilbride again next year then who’s going to take a chance on changing the Offensive Coordinator? We all know that Eli is having a bad year and the O-line is a good part of the reason. But here’s how TC can finish his career as Big Blues grumbled old Head Coach! Make Kevin Gilbride an Assistant Head Coach for one year.

Then TC and KG together would hire a new Defensive Coordinator. Sorry Perry but John Beason was the reason the defense has had a resurgence.

TC and KG would then hire a new Special Teams coach. Sorry Tom but this team needs an infusion of young coaches with an edge and what better place to start.

Now TC and KG and JR and MR can spent the entire off-season rebuilding the O-line. Move Justin Pugh to center…because the Giants will never get back to the playoffs unless they are strong up the middle and this kid is a leader and he’s battle tested. Move Will Beatty to right tackle and don’t look back!

Spend money on free agency for a left tackle and right and left guards. No player returning from injury should ne given a starting spot on the O-line. Draft another Justin Pugh!

Hope like hell that David Wilson can play again and build the offense around getting him more involved then just running him up the middle of a scrum! Kevin Gilbride will have to find another tight end and a big time receiver. Yes, Mike Pope is a great coach but he doesn’t play on Sundays any more. And I don’t think Hakeem Nicks wants to play in New Jersey next season.

So imagine that Kevin Gilbride turns the Giants offence around and Eli is smoking hot at the end of next season and the coffee company and the watch company and the disc company all re-up Eli’s contracts. The G-Men make the playoffs. TC says I’m out of here amigos and Kevin Gilbride is given a three-year head-coaching gig. Remember the Giants, love hiring from with-in and Eli and KG are joined at the hip for another three years! Could happen.

Or forget everything I’m saying and hire David Shaw, Stanford’s dynamic young coach!

Book it Dano!

There not retarded. Eli isn’t going to bash his current coach is all fool.

Please, please tell me this is a joke. This scenario sounds like most Giants’ fans worse nightmare. Make Gilbride head coach? Killdrive? This season would have served some purpose if they fire him and hire a new offensive coordinator. I know that won’t happen, but to give Gilbride even more influence on the team – please, no…………..

This speculative piece is as full of flawed analysis as possible.

    I’ll just pick on one:

“Then TC and KG together would hire a new Defensive Coordinator. Sorry Perry but John Beason was the reason the defense has had a resurgence.”

If the difference in the defense is John Beason than that means there is nothing wrong with the defensive scheme and no need to change defensive coordinators.

It just reinforces the fact that the Giants haven’t had a decent middle linebacker in quite a long time.

There are some many things wrong with this article it’s sad. This is the same guy who a few weeks ago wrote something just as terrible. Gilbride was a head coach for less than 2 seasons with SD and was a terrific 6-16 back in the late nineties. He hasn’t been a head coach in about 15 years and when he was he was horribly unsuccessful. Seems like a good candidate to take over. When you write something, even if it’s for shock value, please just do a little bit of research to try to come up with a compelling argument.
