Kevin Kilbride – Part-2.

My opinion; When the lights go out at Met Life Stadium after the last game of the season with Washington DC’s pro football team the New York Giants will immediately begin the process of evaluating their players and coaches for the 2014 season. At the top of the conference room chalk-board a sign will be posted that says something like – 2014 – GET BACK TO THE PLAYOFFS / SURROUND ELI WITH PLAYMAKERS – O-LINE! – A MUST!

There’s two ways the Giants will go after this disappointing season. 1. Keep Tom Coughlin – providing he wants to stay on for his final year. 2. Fire everyone and hire a new coaching staff all together.  Only the Giants management will know by then, I would be surprised if this happened.

I have suggested that the Giants might hire Kevin Gilbride as an Assistant Head Coach, to help Tom Coughlin in his final year and get Eli back to the playoffs. Once again the Giants are not going back to the playoffs unless Eli takes them there! I also recommend that the Giant fan’s who, disagree with my assumption to go back and watch the last two championship games. The one against the Packers on that frigid night in 2007 when Eli and Plaxico torched, Brett Favre and the game against the 49ers in 2011 when Eli carried his team and all Giant fans to another victory in one of the greatest games in Giant history. Remembering that the guy calling the plays during both of those games was Kevin Gilbride.

But what about the Giant defense for 2014?

Well, the Giants could draft anywhere between the tenth and fifteenth spot. Depending on how they finish. At ten they would be able to draft a linebacker like Alabama’s C.J. Mosley or a Defensive End like Khalil Mack or a Corner like Michigan States, Darqueze Dennard! I imagine that the Giants could field a team next year with a number of hungry young players and there’s nothing wrong with the energy that a young defense with talent could muster-up at Met Life Stadium. JJP – Jonhathan Hankins – Damontre Moore – Linval Joseph – Will Hill – Markus Kuhn – Mark Herzlich  – Prince Amukamara – Spencer Paysinger – Jayron Hosley  – Cooper Taylor – Jacquian Williams.  And a couple of drafted rookies and rookie free agents. Add to that some returning seasoned vets and lets get it on!

Maybe just maybe, that‘s what’s been missing from our defensive play, hungry young players flying to the ball trying to make a name instead of a big payday and not looking over their shoulder, worrying about who’s coming in off the bench to take their spot. Lets call 2014 – The Hungry Games…

Book it Dano!
