Giants to think outside the box in rebuilding for 2014. Seriously?

My Opinion; How the most conservative organization in the NFL will be able to think ‘outside of the box’ to rebuild its team and its reputation is beyond me.

I have followed this team for many years and I can tell you that *they do focus groups when they decide to use a play like the back shoulder fade!

The premise of keeping your Head Coach for another year and hiring new coordinators will not guarantee them the best talent for a dynamic change to their offense. And if John Mara wants to sell more tickets he better get dynamic ASAP. After all, who is going to except a job for one year and then look for a new job after the 2014 season if Coughlin’s contract is not extended, except someone that the organization is comfortable with. And being comfortable is being conservative.

So here is my suggestion to rebuild this ultra conservative team.

John Mara needs to pick up the phone and call Jon Gruden!

“Hello Jon, this is John Mara and I’d like to offer you a job with The New York Giants. Come and run our offense Jon, and I will make you an Assistant Head Coach for one season. I know you have a good relationship with Coach Coughlin. I’ll guarantee you four and a half million this year and when Tom retires next season the Head Coaching job is yours for five years at seven million a season.” “What say Jon?”

Now that’s thinking outside the box!

*No way I can prove this!

Book it Dano!

Why would a proud franchise like the Giants hire an overrated coach like Jon Gruden?

Check out his record post-Super Bowl win. More loses than wins, which means he’s a step down from Coughlin.

He’s barely passable as a broadcaster, but that’s where he should stay.

    Thanks for responding Harold…

Yes the Giants are a proud organization…

I have no issues with TC except that 10 years of coaching in one division in the NFL is ridiculous and many of TC ‘s looses are embarrassing to say the least. Did you realize that before Andy Reed left the Eagles he beat TC – 9 out of 10 times and many were devastating looses.

You take a chance on any coach at the NFL level and look at the ones that this year that have turned their teams around.

Jon Gruden would be my choice instead of Mike Sullivan as an OC hands down…and for those people happy when he got booted in Tampa Bay…well – their still trying to find a head coach!

    Time for a change!

    But not till 2015!

    • Sullivan is going to be the stability / stay the course hire. Same philosophy and system, possibly different subtleties and play calling. I’d love to see a 4 yard pass to pick up a 3rd and 3 instead of a 15 yard sideline pass.

    Hello again Andrew…

Stability will certainly be the party line, But, I really can’t fault Kevin Gillbride just watch the two championship games against he Packer and San Francisco. He was brilliant.

Tom Coughlin approves anything and everything why not – he gets paid close to 7 million a year. And Sullivan just got bounced in Tampa Bay. Giants are too conservative for the changing NFL.

And don’t look now but this isn’t a very good football team so why stay with the same philosophy and system?
