My opinion; so lets see, your boss, the owner of the organization you coach for steps before the New York/New Jersey media and announces to the NFL and the sports world that the offense of his storied franchise – The New York Football Giants, is broken an needs to be fixed. You are shaving and you look in the mirror and say to yourself, ‘hey he’s talking about me, and my job!’
No Giant fans, Kevin Gilbride was not fired from his job as Offensive Coordinator, just quickly ushered into retirement.
Well, the other day former coach Gilbride stated in an interview what we all knew about the past season, that the O-line was the cause of the demise of the Giants chances for a playoff run. ‘You can’t throw a football lying on your back’ was Gilbrides comment about Eli’s ability to find open receivers. And if you put two and two together, the mysterious disconnect between Eli and his receiver’s is much clearer. The disconnect was simple – Eli not having the time to throw the ball and his receivers not adjusting to the pressure he was under time and time again!
The thing that makes Gilbrides interview interesting is the fact that he had warned or suggested to the powers that be that the O-line was getting old and in need of younger players. So TC and JR have to take some responsibility for the crash of the Titans…I mean clash the Giants…oh well.
I have suggested that those fans who think that Kevin Gilbride was totally responsible for the Giants offensive wows over the years should watch the playoff run in 07 and 011 and see how terrific his play calling was with an above average
Time to move on.
