Inclement weather puts OC search on hold

One thing I absolutely love about living in the mid-Atlantic is the weather as compared to upstate NY. Virginia isn’t Southern California — it does snow and rain and get cold enough in the wintertime to go through a nice seasonal change … But it’s not extreme weather this time of year.

The Giants wish the same could be said of he north east right now as they’re trying to conduct some business in hiring their next offensive coordinator. But the winter weather is making that impossible right now.

Via the Star-Ledger:

The Giants met with former assistant Mike Sullivan and ex-Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains earlier in the week. Former Texans quarterbacks coach Karl Dorrell sat down with coach Tom Coughlin on Friday.

McAdoo, 36, was expected to do the same on Saturday, with the possibility of more candidates entering the mix after this weekend’s playoff game. In the meantime, the Giants’ search was put on hold as inclement weather stretch throughout the East Coast.

Interesting decision facing TC. McAdoo a young disciple of McCarthy vs. Sullivan who the Giants should pretty much know what they are getting. If the Giants opt for Sullivan I would suspect they will continue running the KG offensive approach and philosophy and just try to execute more efficiently. If the Giants opt for McAdoo, would they perhaps be willing to change approach and philosopy somewhat on offense and follow more closely the Green Bay attack? Or would McAdoo be expected to ‘tweak’ the KG/TC philosophy? McCarthy calls his own plays I believe as Head Coach. Is TC contemplating calling the offensive plays next season with whomever he brings in as Offensive Coordinator or will he allow Sullivan, McAdoo or whoever to continue that practice for the Giants.

TC knows he must produce a playoff bound team in 2014 or he will receive his neat retirement package following the season. With his neck clearly on the line, the Offensive Coordinator hire will play a huge part in TC’s outcome with the Giants. JR must be fine tuning the TC succession plan, I would suspect Mara is requiring that occur.

Personally I would like to see him hire McAdoo if the interview goes well and see him give McAdoo the reins to call the plays, if TC is not comfortable with McAdoo’s play calling, TC can always takeover the responsibility. It is his neck on the line!! Big question is whether McAdoo or anyone outside of the organization, except perhaps for Sullivan, will be willing to take the leap of faith and join the Giants with TC’s future somewhat tenuous?? I suspose if you have a solid current job you may not want to, if currently out-of-work then what the heck if you want to stay in the game for 2014.
