Who are the Giants main rivals in the NFC East this coming season?

As pre-season continues apace, many Giants’ fans will be eagerly looking ahead to the new NFL season beginning on September 5th, 2019. With not many weeks to go until the 100th NFL season gets underway many supporters will be thinking about how their team will do in the new campaign. Some will even be working out how to bet on NFL online to make some money from their team!

Of course, as well as checking out online sportsbook odds, looking at which teams in the NFC East present the biggest challenge to the Giants doing well is useful. This will help you get a gauge of how they compare and how likely it is that the team can come out on top in a bid for Super Bowl glory.

But which teams are the major rivals in the coming campaign?

Philadelphia Eagles

The team that is getting the most backing from pundits and bookies to win the NFC East in 2019/20 is the Eagles. This makes them the biggest rival that the Giants will have to overcome during the season. The side from Philadelphia is full of talent and have top-notch QB Carson Wentz in their ranks.

Eagles’ manager Howie Roseman has been busy beefing up the Eagles offense in the offseason which could make them tough opponents to face. New signing Malik Jackson from the Jaguars should also make them meaner in defense which is another reason many are fancying them to do well. One glimmer of hope for the Giants is Wentz struggling with injuries again as he did last year. With Nick Foles no longer in Philly to cover, this could affect the Eagles results and allow the Giants to take advantage.

What about the rest?

Of the other two teams in this division, it is only the Dallas Cowboys that pose a serious threat. It seems that this could be a season of transition for them though with a new offensive coordinator and former tight end turned TV pundit Jason Witten coming back into the roster. With not much done in terms of new drafts or signings, it could see the Cowboys keeping a settled side to improve what they do internally.

But what about the Redskins? It would seem from the difficulties they are having finding a reliable QB who can stay healthy, that they will not be the major team to rival the Giants this time.

Giants need to step it up

With pre-season underway and the new season almost here, fans expect the Giants to give it a real go this time around. To get past the Eagles and Cowboys, they will need to! A lot rests on whether Eli Manning can step up to the plate as QB or new draft Daniel Jones can fill his boots if not. Of course, it will also be key for Saquon Barkley to perform as well as he did last year and for Odell Beckham Jr’s pot to be effectively filled. The good news for Giants’ supporters though is that there is every chance this could happen.
