Giants Continue to Talk O-Line in the Draft, One Player to Watch is Iowa’s Wirfs

The NFL combine is coming up very soon, a place where the New York Giants an the rest of the teams in the National Football League can start to scout players and see if any of them are a fit for their team once the NFL Draft takes place.

The Giants are a team in need of help on both the offensive and defensive line, and if you check out any sports betting new jersey sites you will see that most have the G-Men going line in the first round or two.

The team has the fourth pick overall, and there are so many directions the team can go after a tough 2019, that General Manager Dave Gettleman will have his hands full trying to figure out what to do with the pick.

Popular football site Walter Football recently had the Giants going offensive line in round one, taking Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas who would be a great fit on the line looking to protect second-year quarterback Daniel Jones for now and the future.

Thomas is not the only good offensive linemen that could go with the fourth overall pick, as Ralph Vacchiano of SNY reports that the Giants are gaga over another offensive tackle, that being Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs.

Here is what Vacchiano wrote about the team having their eyes on Wirfs.

The Giants already “love” Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs, according to an NFL source familiar with the Giants thinking, and they have expressed similar interest in Alabama’s Jedrick Wills. Both of them are widely considered among the top four offensive line prospects in this year’s class, and they will get a good look from the entire league at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis next week.

It is far too early to know whether either of them would interest the Giants enough to draft them with the fourth overall pick. Right now, the NFL consensus seems to have Wirfs and Wills in a four-man group at the top of the offensive line charts, with Georgia’s Andrew Thomas and Louisville’s Mekhi Becton. Which order they will eventually land in depends, for now, on who is asked.

The lines are two very important part of any football team, and while it won’t be a “sexy” pick, it will be a safe pick and one that can help the Giants for years to come.

The biggest task on the offense is that the team needs to find a way to protect Jones and open holes for Saquon Barkley – do that in the draft – and this team will be much better for it.
