Giants Go OL in Round One, Snag Georgia Tackle Andrew Thomas

The Giants Thursday night didn’t go off script, and took a big asset who should be able to step up and protect Daniel Jones in year’s to come in Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas.

Here’s the “biggest question” on Thomas according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan:

Was Thomas the best tackle available? Personnel evaluators were all over the board with the top four tackles, and the Giants had their pick at No. 4. They deemed Thomas to be the top overall option, despite a critique from one offensive line coach that he was “not an ass-kicker.” His 21 bench-press reps at the combine only solidified that assessment. It was a pedestrian number for a lineman. Still, the Giants had him as their top tackle, but he did finish last among the top four tackles (although not by much) in an ESPN poll of 11 evaluators.

Giants General Manager Dave Gettleman and head coach Joe Judge share their thoughts on Big Blue’s 1st round NFL Draft pick, Georgia OT Andrew Thomas.
