Kenny Britt Pro Day Update

Mike Garafolo of the Newark-Star Ledger was at Kenny Britt’s Pro Day, and had a few nuggets:

There were only two Giants’ scouts at the workout and neither seemed to be paying any particular attention to a given player. After the running and jumping drills, a few players did positional drills or met with scouts individually. Unless something happened behind closed doors, the Giants didn’t give those players any individualized attention.

But they will get a chance to do so soon, as all teams are allowed to bring in as many players from local colleges as they’d like for pre-draft visits. Only players schools outside the area count against the limit of 30 visits. One of the players today said the Giants’ local workout day will be on Apr. 9, but the player and his agent weren’t 100 percent sure, so don’t quote us on that.

As for the workout, I heard from several scouts that WR Kenny Britt, DB Jason McCourty and TE Kevin Brock were the most impressive players today.

Britt only ran the 40-yard dash and the 60-yard shuttle. The Rutgers’ “official” time for his 40 was 4.40. I put official in quotes because that’s the fastest time they found among the scouts, so obviously that’s the one they’re going to put out there. I was standing behind a group of scouts and the average times I saw were in the mid-4.4s to about 4.50.

A 4.40-4.5 40 for a 6-4 wide out is outstanding. There are some concerns about Britt’s maturity; he’s been given the reciever ‘prima donna’ label. But if the Giants do select him,  he has a chance, based on talent, to  make an immediate impact, perhaps even as a number one receiver right away.

Man I really hope Kenny Britt ends up on the Giants, I think he’d look nice in Big Blue.

    We’ll see what happens
