Giants Should Trade for Tyler Thigpen

Tyler Thigpen, of the Chiefs, has been the subject of trade rumors, and we know Jacksonville has made an offer. With Matt Cassel on the roster, Kansas City can afford to make Thigpen available. And why not? He was very impressive last year, throwing for 2,608 yards, 18 TDs and a respectable 54.8 completion percentage. With many teams potentially interested, I think one team is perfect for him: The New York Giants

This is not a slight against Eli Manning. He’s the QB now and in the future. It’s more of a slight towards the backups. David Carr has struggled in training camp and in the preseason. Andre’ Woodson is an absolute disaster at QB. And Rhett Bomar has been given little chance to show what he can (or can’t) do. If Manning goes down, Carr is not a suitable replacement. That’s why they should go after Thigpen. If Manning is healthy, you can try to trade Thigpen for draft choices. If not, you have a QB who has produced, and can step in. Scout Daniel Jeremiah wrote on Twitter that Thigpen is worth a 4th round pick. That should be agreeable to the Giants.

Last year, the Giants risked it with Carr as the only backup, and got lucky. Manning didn’t get hurt, so Carr never had to play. I wouldn’t want to take that risk again. That’s why the Giants should trade for Tyler Thigpen

  1. This makes absolutely no sense….you are going to trade a draft pick (known to giants fans as “reese’s pieces”) for a back-up quarterback?

a 4th round pick is wayyy too much to give up for a third stringer…plus the giants re-signed carr

  2. CCC says:

I think Tyler could be better than Cassel

  3. Chief says:

Tyler Thigpen cannot play under center,, he had Tony G last year who is no longer here,, if you go after him be prepared to change to the spread formation because other wise he will be a bust..We will gladly take a 4th rd pick for him..
