Giants Cardinals Game Preview

A true test of your Giant fandom. Do you watch the Yanks, or the G-Men? Tough call. This is an important game for the Giants. Coming off a bad loss against the Saints, it’s crucial to have a good game against the Cards.

OUT: DT Chris Canty (calf); CB Aaron Ross (hamstring); and LB Michael Boley (knee).
QUESTIONABLE: OT Kareem McKenzie (groin);
PROBABLE: RB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle); LG Rich Seubert (shoulder); QB Eli Manning (foot); RB Danny Ware (elbow); WR Mario Manningham (back/ribs); LB Antonio Pierce (back)

OUT: TE Stephen Spach (ankle)
QUESTIONABLE: RB Beanie Wells (hip); WR Anquan Boldin (ankle)
PROBABLE: OT Levi Brown (knee); CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (finger); OG Reggie Wells (thumb); WR Steve Breaston

Boldin is questionable, but according to PFT, he’s good to go.

The Arizona defense is very fast, but they can be beat. Like always, a strong clock control run game will be key. Will Brandon Jacobs break out? I think so. He’s angry. When he’s angry, he does well. Can the Giants get Kevin Boss involved? Luckily, the offense was pretty good last week. I’m not worried about the offense. Ahmad Bradshaw could have a big game. Like with the Saints, the key to beating the Cards is keeping them off the field. That’s why Jacobs will be huge. If he is strong, it will be a lot easier for the G-Men to win.

The Cards have an explosive offense, led by Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is the best receiver since Jerry Rice. He’s that good. Strong, fast, great hands, he has it all. You can’t stop him. The Giants will have to be very physical within the first  yards–make him uncomfortable. Another key is getting to Kurt Warner. After an abysmal pass rush a week ago, look for the Giants to come out strong. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Justin Tuck lining up at defensive tackle more. You might see some blitzes from the safety spot. You might see five down lineman. They’ll try anything to get the rush going. The run game isn’t too much of a concern. This is a pass first, second and third team. The key is getting to Warner.

The Cards are beginning to show that their Super Bowl run wasn’t a fluke, with two straight impressive wins. This is a pass first, second and third team. And why not? They have Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, Kurt Warner. This is an explosive offensive team, that has a pretty nice defense. Again, the key is pressure, pressure and more pressure. Without it, Warner will pick the depleted secondary apart. Steve Breaston is a tremendous kick returner. Slowing him down will be huge.

Another tough one for me to pick. However, I believe that the coaching staff will get the team so fired up this week. That’s why I like the Giants. FINAL SCORE: Giants 24, Cards 14

    My new concern is that the Giants will over react to last week’s debacle, over pursue and over utilize the pass rush. Of course, this will leave the LF and/or AB open. Having said this, the defense needs to be much more aggressive this week. Warner needs to be hit. PS: I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team go into a prevent defense like last week when they were losing! Crazy. I guess I agree that the ball control issue is huge tonight. Go Giants!
