Next Day Thoughts: Giants Cardinals

What to say about this one? Not a lot of good, that’s for sure. Here are some Next Day Thoughts.

– Let’s start with some positives:The defense played, I thought, pretty well. Yeah, they let up some big runs to Beanie Wells, but in all honesty, I don’t think any team would have stopped him. They held Fitzgerald and Boldin in check. There was a pass rush, and while they didn’t hit Warner much, they were in his face. That’s a good sign moving forward.

-Way too many mistakes for a supposedly disciplined team. The interceptions by Eli. The dropped pass in the end zone by Manningham. The game in general by Ahmad Bradshaw (more on him later). The Giants can win games where they don’t play great, because they are usually more disciplined than the other team. Not so last night.

-The Cards did a great job of attacking Eli. They went full throttle, and the Giants never adjusted with play action, draws or rollouts. They’re going to be mad when they see that on film.

-Ahmad Bradshaw should be benched for the first half of next week’s game. He fumbled the ball on that key fourth down drive. And then he let his emotions get the best of him near the goal line with a personal foul penalty. Two stupid plays probably cost the Giants a shot at the game. Stupid. Can’t have that. Coughlin has to take appropriate action.

-Why isn’t Kevin Boss used more? Anyone? Bueller? He made an absolutely spectacular grab, one where he was JACKED UP by Antrel Rolle. They have to use him more. I don’t get it. He’s a very good tight end. Use him. Use him to take away pressure from the receivers and the running game. Kevin Gilbride confuses me sometimes.

-Let’s end on a positive: Rookies are playing well. Will Beatty filled in admirably for Kareem McKenzie.  Hakeem Nicks continues to make plays. Bruce Johnson is becoming the nickel corner. Another great draft by Jerry Reese.

  1. I disagree about Bradshaw — but the Kevin Boss thing is really what has me up in arms.

He has great hands, he gets open — great at running after the catch and he’s hard to bring down.

Why would he not have a larger role on offense then he has been given this year?

  2. Jesse Cassel says:

I’m a huge Giants fan and i live and die through every game so I’m the biggest defender of them and i try to make excuses but I have to say after a loss to the saints and the cardinals, two top teams, maybe there just not as good as we thought they were. Its very possible that they were a product of there schedule. Now don’t get me wrong, i hope to god I’m not right but its still something to think about. If they are that good they need to step it up Sunday.
