5 Keys To Beating The Falcons

After a bye week that was hopefully restful and rejuvenating, the Giants are back at it, hoping to get back on the winning track against the 5-4 Falcons. This game is not only important for the confidence of the Giants, but the Falcons are a competitor for a Wild Card spot. A win goes a long way towards securing that spot.

1. Aaron Ross

With all signs pointing to Aaron Ross making his season debut, he needs to make an impact immediately. You can bet the Falcons will try to test him right away. While Michael Jenkins isn’t a huge threat, a rusty Ross could be an issue. Ross needs to play like Ross.

2. Michael Boley

The Falcons have a great weapon in Tony Gonzalez. Hall of Famer, no doubt. That’s why Michael Boley is so important. He is the only linebacker capable of staying with him on the Giants. Limiting his production is huge.

3. Pressure!

With Michael Turner likely to be out, the Giants can afford to ignore the run a little bit. That’s not to say they can’t forget about it, but they can be more aggressive in passing situations. You can afford to send a linebacker (or two). Maybe even a corner. The Giants are catching a big break. But they have to take advantage of it, and they can do that by putting extra pressure on Matt Ryan

4. Stick With What Works!

The Giants were confusing against the Chargers. The short pass was working great. So what do they do? Go to the run when it mattered most. The defense was doing a good job of attacking. So what do they do? Go to prevent defense when it mattered most. The Giants coaching staff have to realize what works, what doesn’t, and then stick with the former. It seems easy enough. It will go a long way to a win.

4. Do or Die

This is the biggest game of the Giants season. This will give us a great idea of what this team is made of. Can they fight through adversity? Or do they fold under the pressure? We’ll know Sunday.

  1. the coaching staff needs to try some zazen, because they are horrible at living in the moment.

i know, look with your eyes at what is working, make adjustments to your game plan — stop engraving it in stone, and coach with a pulse.

you have one of the best teams in the NFL, start acting like it.
