Giants Broncos Game Preview

Happy Thanksgiving, Giants fans! We here at GiantsGab hope you have a wonderful Turkey day. And you know what? There’s football! Giants football! The G-Men travel to Denver to take on the struggling Broncos tonight. Thanksgiving. Football. Under the lights. It should be awesome.

OUT: LB Antonio Pierce (neck); RB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankle/foot)
PROBABLE: QB Eli Manning (foot)

T Ryan Harris (toe); RB LaMont Jordan (back)
PROBABLE: QB Kyle Orton (ankle); S Brian Dawkins (neck)

The Giants offense–particularly the passing game–was great against Atlanta. They were moving the ball down the field with relative ease. While the Broncos defense is better than the Falcons, they can still be beat. The Giants have to keep with the short to medium passing game. If it’s working, stay with it. As for the run game, we know Ahmad Bradshaw will be out, which means  Danny Ware will get the bulk of the second running back duties. The Giants seem to stick with the run early, then when the pass is working, abandon it. I want to see the Giants stick with the run for the whole game. Maybe more attempts will get it going.

Ah, the defense. The defense that has given up leads in the past two games. The Giants defense needs a break out game, and it starts with pressure from the front four. Pressure from Osi and Tuck. When the front four gets going, the rest of the defense sort of falls into place. I think the front four can get going, considering as the Broncos are missing one of their tackles. I think the linebackers can stay with the tight ends/running backs. Can Corey Webster stop Brandon Marshall? Tough to know, but if the Webster of last week shows up, they should be fine.

The Broncos started off hot. 6 straight wins, including wins against the Pats and Chargers. Since then? 4 straight losses. It’s clear the Broncos want to get back on the wining track. Kyle Orton is a great game manager, and if you give him time, he’ll make you pay. Of course, Brandon Marshall is a big threat. So is Eddie Royal. I think the Giants can stop rookie running back Knowshon Moreno. The Broncos will also have the crowd noise on their side. I can’t imagine, on Thanksgiving, the crowd being muted. It should be loud.

This game has Giants loss written all over it. Short week. Long trip. Denver needs a win. But, something tells me the Giants can pull it off. FINAL SCORE: Giants 28, Broncos 21

Enjoy your Thanksgiving. Keep one eye on the turkey, one eye on the game. That’s what we’ll be doing. We’ll try and check in from time to time, but things will be back to normal next week. Make sure that tryptophan doesn’t kick in.
