Giants Redskins Game Preview

Well folks, this is it. Win,  or go home. Mark outlined  the playoff scenarios here. They need to win, and hope for the best from other teams. I believe in just taking care of what you can control. The Giants can control this game against the Redskins. How will they respond?

OUT:  None
DOUBTFUL: RT Kareem McKenzie (knee); CB Corey Webster (knee)
QUESTIONABLE: CB Aaron Ross (hamstring)
PROBABLE: QB Eli Manning (foot); RB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankles/foot);

OUT: None
QUESTIONABLE:  PK Graham Gano (right foot); T Stephon Heyer (knee); DT Cornelius Griffin (shoulder); CB DeAngelo Hall (knee); S Kareem Moore (ankle); FB Mike Sellers (quad)
PROBABLE:  DT Albert Haynesworth (ankle)

Of course, we know that Webster and McKenzie are out.

I’m not worried about the offense. After that performance against the Eagles, the Giants can score on anyone. Eli is playing like a Pro-Bowler. Steve Smith is a Pro-Bowler. Hakeem Nicks has to be considered a favorite for offensive rookie of the year. Brandon Jacobs finally looked like Brandon Jacobs. This is an offensive juggernaut. They can win in a shootout. So, I think the offense will have a big night. Once again, it has to start with the running game, but based on what I saw against Philly, Jacobs and Co. should be fine.

Ah, the defense. I said we can win in a shootout, but the defense eventually does have to stop someone. Not sure they can. Now, Corey Webster is out. Kevin Dockery will now get significant playing time. Aaron Ross will start at corner. For a team that has trouble stopping offense, losing your best corner is not good. The Giants will have to counter with a strong pass rush. I’m looking at you, Osi. I’m looking at you, Tuck. A strong pass rush negates a weak secondary.

I would have a hard time being a Redskin fan. You get Albert Haynesworth. You have a pretty good defense. You have an offensive minded coach. Yet, you can’t succeed. More than likely, Jim Zorn will be fired. I think he’ll be fired before the year is over. Mike Shanahan seems to be a logical replacement. He would have to get a Coach/GM role. How can a team focus on football when there are all these outside distractions? I don’t know. What I do know is that there is talent on this team. Huge fan of Jason Campbell. I think the defense is pretty good. They’ve been hit by injuries (Chris Cooley, Clinton Portis). This team has talent, but they don’t know how to win yet. They’ll be looking to play spoiler.

I really like the Giants in this one. The Giants offense will go crazy. And, because the Redskin offense is average, the defense has a chance to make some stop. FINAL SCORE: Giants 35, Redskins 21

    I thought Webster was out and Ross was starting for him? I’d feel a lot better with Ross at safety instead if cc Briown
