Season-In-Review: What Went Wrong: Lack Of Effort

All football teams need to have effort. You can be the best team in the world, but you have to give your all on every play. Too often, the Giants did not do that. Too often, the Giants did not show up for games. What’s to blame for this lack of effort on gameday? Tough to know for sure. All I know is that the lack of effort was unacceptable.

There are a couple games that I can pinpoint where there was no effort. The first Eagles game. The Thanksgiving Broncos game. The Panthers game. The Vikings game. 4 games. A quarter of the season. The NFL season is too short to take 25% of it off. Hell, you can burned by taking one game off. The Giants took 4 off. Now, if you took 4 days off from work, unexplained and unexcused, chances are your boss isn’t going to be too happy. The fans aren’t too happy with the Giants. The Giants’ boss, John Mara, wasn’t too happy. And they shouldn’t be.

I don’t know why there was this lack of effort. Was there a leadership void? Did the injury to Antonio Pierce affect them? I don’t know. I’m not sure if the players even know. But, there has to be a change. New leadership needs to be brought in. I’ve always thought that, especially in football, fiery guys are the best leaders. There aren’t many fiery guys on the Giants. Could that be the difference?

It’s clear that the Giants lack of effort was unacceptable. Fans pay big money to go to a game, and seeing lackluster effort is not fair. Will the Giants pick up their effort next year. Only time will tell. We know this: In 2009, the Giants didn’t show up for 25% of their games. That is unacceptable.

let’s see a prospect profile at myron rolle….big time safety out of fsu from princeton area…could be a 1st round talent falling to the g-men in the 2nd round due to a year out of football big time sleeper

Removing the DC so quickly after the season was a sure sign that Coughlin and the GM knew he was a problem. I don’t see the Giants scapegoating
