Giants Add Safety Busing

Safety John Busing has agreed to sign a deal with the New York Giants, according to his agent David Canter.

Canter said via his Twitter page that the former Texans safety is on his way to Albany, where the Giants open camp on Sunday.

Busing, 26, is a 6-2 veteran who has played four seasons in the league. He played his first three with the Bengals before making 32 tackles and starting four games for the Texans last year. He has one career interception coming last season as well.

Busing provides the team with more depth at safety where the team lost rookie Chad Jones likely for the season due to a car accident. Star safety Kenny Phillips is still making his way back from knee surgery and will start camp on the physically unable to perform list. Phillips isn’t expected to be able to practice for at least a week or two as the Giants take it slow with their safety.

As of right now, Antrel Rolle and Deon Grant will start at FS and SS at least until Kenny Phillips can become healthy enough to start. Adding Busing doesn’t affect the team but it does give us more depth at the safety position which can never be a bad thing.
