CB Aaron Ross has a Tear in His Plantar Fascia in Right Foot

More bad news on the injury front for the Giants, as CB Aaron Ross has a tear in the plantar fascia in his right foot, and will at the least miss the next two preseason games.

Cornerback Aaron Ross has a tear in the plantar fascia in his right foot according to the team. Ross has been out all week with plantar fasciitis and has had his swollen right heel in a cast.

Head coach Tom Coughlin initially said that Ross’ plantar fasciitis did not involve any tear following Wednesday’s afternoon practice. But after receiving the latest report from the team’s medical staff, Coughlin was informed there was a tear on Wednesday night.

The team said the tear does not change Ross’ initial prognosis. He will remain in the cast for seven-to-10 days — which will likely keep him out of the remaining two preseason games — and then will work on “his strength and modality.” The team will re-evaluate Ross after that. Antrel Rolle somewhat feels Ross’ pain.

The Giants safety tore his plantar fascia completely last season when playing against the Giants while with the Cardinals. He continued to play with the tear.

“Actually, his is a little bit different than mine,” Rolle said. “He has plantar fasciitis, which is a partial tear. I tore my plantar fascia completely. To tear it completely is actually better than to tear it partially. Once you tear it completely, it kind of takes care of itself and it doesn’t matter. Just depends on how much pain you can play on.”
