Thoughts And Musings

Let’s muse, people.

-Propsect Profiles are coming along. Read them here. Coming up today is Ladarius Green, the tight end from Louisiana-Lafayette.

-Remember to keep requesting. Some coming up: Zerbie Sanders, Chris Polk, Orson Charles, Mark Barron and more.

-Speaking of tight ends, I’m starting to think more and more that the Giants don’t draft a tight end early. For one, the top tight ends aren’t too good. Two, the Giants don’t draft for need, especially if that person is a reach. Dwayne Allen is a reach. Coby Fleener is a reach. Orson Charles is a reach. So, I think the Giants might stick with Bear Pascoe. Or bring in depth, for sure. George Bryan of NC State is a name to keep in mind. John Carlson, the Seattle tight end, is a free agent; he might be an option. But I can’t imagine it being in the first round.

-I think the Giants could very well draft a cornerback early. As in 1st round early. Think Stephon Gilmore of South Carolina (who will be profiled). Hell, even Janoris Jenkins if he falls to due to character concerns. Yes, the Giants drafted Prince, but assuming Aaron Ross goes, then its Webster and Prince and a lot of question marks. Terrell Thomas is a question mark. So they need depth. And, look, you can never have enough corners in this pass happy league.

-Of course, they might also go pass rusher. Whitney Mercilus from Illinois? Maybe. Quinton Coples, if he falls? Nick Perry?

-I’m really liking Lavonte David, the linebacker from Nebraska. Read his profile here. I think he can be a perfect Deon Grant replacement, while also being effective as a linebacker. Think second round.

-Birthday interlude: My birthday is Saturday. Feel free to send me gifts (just kidding). Anyone who guesses my age gets, well, I don’t know. But go for it.

-Giants could also go wide receiver. Mohammed Sanu, from Rutgers?

-The Giants have needs, to be sure.  But the Giants will always draft BPA. No matter what. So, as we’re mocking, which is also coming soon, we have to think: who’s available at 32, and who is the best guy?

-I think the Giants would love a guy like Melvin Ingram, but he’s going top 10.

-Also don’t be surprised if the Giants trade out. For one, teams early in the second round like to trade up. And two, it’s a weaker draft, and why not pick up an extra first round pick next year?

-I can’t see the Giants being super active in free agency. Maybe a tight end. Maybe a wideout, or a corner. But not a big ticket signing.

-Wondering if the Giants will draft a late round QB to develop. They obviously want to, with the Andre Woodson and Rhett Bomar picks. We’ll see, maybe someone like Aaron Corp from Richmond, a USC transfer who has some skill.

-What do you guys think the Giants are going to do with Jacobs? Keep him? Cut him? Why?

-Very curious to see how Marvin Austin looks, once camp rolls along. Missed all of last year due to injury. Lots of talent. 2nd year with no football (got suspended at UNC). How does that affect him? Have to think it’s a negative effect. But we’ll see.

-Acupuncture interlude: Have been considering getting acupuncture. I have a bad hip. Has anyone had it? Thoughts?

Acupuncture, my friend Sarah swears by it. If you find that nothing else works it cannot hurt, besides it is certainly better than taking prescription drugs. How can we guess ones age simply from their writing. That would have to b the wildest guess ever. Ahhh, I don’t know… 32

I am a physical therapist and I agree it certainly can not hurt to try. I’ve had plenty of clients who have received relief from it for various reasons. I would also suggest seeing a manual physical therapist and find out what is going on to make you have hip problems. Acupuncture may relieve the current discomfort you have but it may not resolve the issue that is causing it.
